It's A Rainy Day In The Neighborhood
Well...what can I say its a rainy day in the neighborhood....must mean its time to start a blog! we'll see if this is really the best thing to do to cure my boredom.
I'm assuming that most people have some sort of idea of what they want to Blog about when they start a blog...hmmm...I'm sorry, I really have no direction, I'm just going to wing it. I just know that it has been raining for a month and I need to do something else. Maybe I'll entertain someone out there or maybe this will just keep me occupied for a little while. Who knows what the outcome will be. For the moment this is keeping me entertained until a good TV show starts.
I remember when I was first introduced to Blogs, it wasn't the best introduction. I had FINALLY landed a job, sort of , it was through a temp agency and the position was a temporary to permanent at this company. It was an administrative position, but I also wasn't really sure what I wanted to do as a career, I was responsible for booking travel arrangements for all the travelers in the company. I thought this would be pretty interesting, I mean I was always a fan of traveling, so this job sounded great! My manager seemed really cool and down to earth. She was younger, probably in her early 30's, married, had traveled, worked in cool jobs, had lots of friends, a cute dog. We would go to happy hours and joke around about our co-workers and upper management, she would let me come into work late or leave early (not that ever really did) and she would always have my back if I was put in one of those awkward work situations, lets just say I always enjoyed going to work.
Once I started to learn the ropes and get the hang of things I noticed that she wasn't really doing anything productive in the office. Every morning she would have to call her mom, husband and sister and have long drawn out conversations. Then our jokes about upper management turned into her becoming paranoid that they were always watching us and looking at what we were doing. Now, you may ask, what's the big deal? Well, this would interrupt her daily blogging and web surfing. I was there doing all the work and she took the 'sit back and act like a manager and manage' position, then she started blaming me for any mistakes she made, she was hacking into my emails, constantly calling in sick and then calling me and crying about her family, marriage, psychiatric and drug problems. It was a little much for me to handle, why would my manager call me when she was calling in sick to work to tell me all of this? Why was she suddenly blaming me for all of her screw ups? Sabotaging me moving up in the company so she wouldn't have to work with anyone else? Putting me in countless uncomfortable situations?
Next thing I know, people (management) would ask me what it was that she did every day and all I could respond was, "update her blog?", she did nothing but make my life miserable for months, to the point I couldn't say anything, even a lie to try to help her keep her job, after my response she was soon let go from the company. Anyway, the point of this long story is that her blogging gave blogging in general a bad taste in my mouth, but considering that was years ago, I'm willing to give this whole blog thing a shot...
So, here's to you blogger and all you bloggers out there! Hope we can have a great relationship! and if not....It's not my business what you think of me anyway!
Cheers!
